Although he wanted to tell her about his dream, he was afraid that he might burden her. She looked so pale, her face yellow except a small wrinkled area under her eyes where black rings arched up towards her brows. Even her shoulders slumped down, as if they merged into her arms, forming one piece. “Mama, I had a dream last night.” Noah turned his gaze to the wooden floor after speaking those words. “Can you tell me about it, if you want to?” Noah stood up and quickly, he placed the glass of milk at his mother’s side and said, “Mama, I’ll just go. I have to study.” “I need to know about the dream,” His mother said, grasping him from his arm. Noah could feel her weak, bony fingers around his wrist. He shivered and sat back at the stool. After clearing his throat twice, Noah began. “I was on mount Sinai. Someone was calling my name and asking me to climb. I did not see anyone. The wind was blowing from everywhere. The voice kept on repeating my name. I felt so tired from climbing, but I never stopped. At the top of the mountain I saw a great white light then everything vanished.” Noah gazed for a moment at the pouring sunlight from the window. It reflected his shadow on the floor. He felt like he should have kept the dream a secret. “It’s just a dream, not that important.” His mother remained silent. Her smile widened gradually as she pushed herself from under the quilt and squeezed Noah’s hand. “It’s a message.” She said, “What do you mean by a message?” “It’s a message from God.” His mother spoke with a zealous voice opposite to her previous weak voice. All of a sudden, she seemed to regain her energy. “God?” Noah said, dropping his chin and raising one side of his lips. “Why would god send a twelve years old boy a message?” “God wants you to go climb the mountain, there; something will be waiting for you.” Trying to offer himself a proper explanation to replace his mother’s idea, Noah thought this dream repeated itself due to the scary books he had been reading lately. They all included mountains, sudden storms, and sources of light. “Mama,” Noah said, “Forget about what I said.” His mother tore the quilt off her body and sat at the edge of the bed. “ Noah,” she said, “ You must trust me. My mother taught me to read dreams when I was your age. It’s something rare when dreams like this come to someone.” She stood up and walked to the window. After pushing it open, she pointed towards the north. “ you must go to mount Sinai. Something is waiting there for you.” Suddenly, she began coughing. Her feet trembled and she was about to fall, but Noah caught her at the right time and helped her back into her bed. He had always believed his mother. May be she was right, may be god wanted to offer him something. Boost Energy Workout VideoMonday, June 21st, 2010
